THE district’s two mountain rescue teams have been working together on a joint training exercise.
The North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and the Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team visited Simonside Hills near Rothbury last month.
As the teams regularly work closely together to manage incidents and respond to call-outs, joint exercises are a vital part of their training schedules.
The challenging scenario included a mock call-out from a fallen rock climber who had sustained multiple traumatic injuries to their pelvis and leg. Team members had to extract the fallen climber, whilst also lowering their partner, a fast crag climber, to the ground.
A spokeswoman for the teams said: “There were great efforts all round.”
