A BOOST from a local business will allow schoolchildren in Prudhoe to take part in extra swimming lessons.
Miv Chahal, who owns the Prudhoe NISA store, presented the children at Adderlane Academy with a cheque for £646.52 through the Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity.
The charity helps stores which are members of NISA raise money that can then be donated to local charities and various good causes.
Every time an item included in the scheme is purchased, a proportion of the price is added to the store’s MADL fund and this can then be donated to good causes in that store’s local area.
Headteacher at Adderlane Academy Emma Potts said: “We are thrilled to be considered for this donation which will be used to enhance our sports provision in particular our swimming lessons at Prudhoe Waterworld.”
Mr Chahal said: “From our point of view its great to be able to put something back into a community that supports our business.
“It’s great to assist children in learning such a valuable life skill such as swimming, so this is our way of saying thank you to the people who shop in their local Nisa store.”
