ROADWORKS to improve Prudhoe’s main street have been completed.
Council teams, supported by Tarmac UK, spent five days on Prudhoe’s Front Street from March 11 to March 15 as part of Northumberland County Council’s annual programme of investment in highways.
The work saw the stretch of road from West Road through to Redwell Road resurfaced.
The work is part of the council’s annual local transport plan programme, where over £19m a year is being invested in a raft of repair, restoration and maintenance projects benefitting pedestrians, cyclists and drivers in all parts of the county.
Councillor Glen Sanderson, cabinet member for environment and local services, said: “This is just one example of the schemes taking place across Northumberland over the coming year.
“We’re delighted the improvements work has been so well received and we were able to keep disruption to a minimum by carrying out the works overnight.”
Prudhoe South Councillor Gordon Stewart said: “The work carried out on Front Street is to a very good standard and has been very well received by the local community.
“I’ve spoken to many local people, visitors and business people who are delighted at not only the improvement but also by the way in which the teams were so professional and helpful.”
