POLICE and immigration officials descended on a luxury housing development.
Plain-clothes officers and police vans moved in on the Bayside Development in Worthing at about 10am.
Immigration checks found seventeen men working illegally, the Home Office said.
Ten of the men, aged between 18 and 31, were from Albania.
Seven, aged 28 and 63, were from India.
Eleven of the men, nine Albanians and two Indians, had entered the UK illegally and six, one Albanian and five Indians, had overstayed their visas.
All are currently in immigration detention pending removal from the UK.
The former Aquarena swimming pool in Brighton Road is being converted in more than 140 exclusive apartments, with a large workforce currently on site. Sussex Police confirmed its officers attended the incident.
