THE executive chairman of a Tynedale company has been recognised in a prestigious list which recognises the country’s most innovative entrepreneurs.

Osbit Ltd’s executive chairman, Tony Trapp MBE, has been recognised in the Maserati 100 list.

Published in partnership with The Sunday Times, the Maserati 100 recognises game-changing, creative entrepreneurs.

Now in its fifth year, it is dedicated to celebrating the positive impact entrepreneurs have on the economy and society.

This year, the theme is ‘innovators’, and the list highlights a select group of entrepreneurs who have contributed original thinking to their industry.

Dr Trapp has been at the forefront of the offshore engineering sector, and was one of the original innovators of the UK subsea industry.

Having already co-founded Soil Machine Dynamics (SMD) and establishing IHC Engineering Business, in 2010 he founded Osbit Ltd.

In keeping with all of the businesses he has been involved with, Osbit is owned and run by engineers. Its directors encourage a highly-creative and collaborative approach, which enables its team to develop game-changing technology to address the challenges of the offshore energy industries. It also works closely with North-East universities to attract engineering graduates and operates an apprenticeship programme.

Dr Trapp said: “I am honoured to be part of the Maserati 100, which is testament to the brilliant engineers and creative people that are part of Osbit, which share mine and my fellow director’s vision for this business.

“We are dedicated to solving complex challenges that improve operations and efficiencies in the offshore industry, which requires high levels of innovation.

“I am privileged to be surrounded by amazing engineers who transform creative concepts into effective technology-led solutions and being part of the Maserati 100 is also about their achievements, which have helped grow this business.”
