A DOG breeder from Otterburn is celebrating after the terrier she bred won a top award at Crufts.
It was a proud moment for Janet Alexander, who previously won a Best of Breed award in 1991, when her dog Pete won the Border Terrier Best of Breed award at the prestigious dog show.
Janet, who had handed over ownership of Pete to Nicola Anderson, from Lemington, a few years ago, said: “Pete is in very good hands with Nicola and I couldn’t be more happy to see that they won the Border Terrier class at Crufts.”
Janet said she was still a regular at local championship shows and treasured the winning Crufts rosette from 1991. Her own Border Terrier, Jake, also did well at Crufts, being placed third in the junior dog class. Janet added: “I was very proud of Nicola. It’s everybody’s ambition to win at Crufts.”
Mika, another Border Terrier, owned by Margaret Armstrong, also of Otterburn, did well in the veteran bitch class.
