THE site of Prudhoe’s former Drill Hall has been secured after work to demolish the building was halted.

County councillor Ken Stow said that around half a dozen residents close to the former Territorial Army Drill Hall on Swalwell Close had raised concerns that work to knock it down appeared to have stopped, and it had been left unsecure with debris able to blow around.

The plan was to build six three-storey houses in its place.

But Coun. Stow said there had been difficulties contacting the developer, and after being informed of the issues the council had secured the site. A Northumberland County Council spokesman said: “We are seeking advice from our legal team on how to progress with this case.”
