OPINIONS are being gathered on whether residents would like to see a popular town high street reduced to a 20mph speed limit.

At a recent Prudhoe Community Partnership Front Street improvement meeting, the suggestion was put forward that the Front Street area of Prudhoe should be reduced from a 30mph limit to 20mph.

County Councillor Gordon Stewart said: β€œAn evaluation of the suggestion will be made and if it is thought to be worthwhile it will go to a formal consultation before any decision is made. But I am inviting views on a very informal basis.”

He posted the question on the Prudhoe Matters Facebook page to get responses from members of the community, with the majority of responses being in favour of the street keeping its current speed limit.

However Coun. Stewart is still inviting residents to get in touch contact by email if they wish to have their views recorded.
