THE work being carried out on a £5.5m housing development for older people has been praised by Hexham’s MP.

Guy Opperman MP visited the construction site at St Cuthbert’s Close, in Hexham, and was impressed with the workmanship from housing association Karbon Homes and contractors Tolent Construction.

A total of 38 apartments for older people will be built on site.

Mr Opperman said “I am delighted to see the great work Karbon Homes is doing to provide high quality, affordable housing for local people.

“It is fantastic to see them using local builders and providing local jobs in Hexham.”

Zoey Hawthorne, assistant director of development delivery for Karbon, said: “We are making good progress on the development, and it was good to have the opportunity to show Mr Opperman the work going on.”
