A CALL has gone out for more volunteers at an historic Christian retreat.
Geoff Bockett, the operations manager of Minsteracres Retreat Centre, has appealed for more people to help out at the centre to meet increased demand.
Minsteracres provides hospitality to people in need of peace and tranquility, and time away from the demands of modern living, but relies upon volunteers to work alongside the catering staff to serve meals.
Mr Bockett said: “We have a very active, committed band of volunteers who last year contributed many hours of their time to the running of Minsteracres but, year on year, we continue to bring in more people on retreat which of course means more demand on our resources. We have volunteers from all walks of life, some who are retired and like to remain active and others who wish to expand their skills or their social circle; everyone volunteers for a reason and that’s as it should be.
“We don’t ask our volunteers to commit to a given number of hours per week or month. Reliability is most important to us and anyone helping out over a longer period or who live a distance away can take advantage of staying with us overnight and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.”
Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the centre on (01434) 673248.
