HAPPINESS and wellbeing will be the focus of a new course to start this spring.

Lorna Brocksopp encourages wellbeing through her website Joyful Simplicity, as well as through Action for Happiness courses she has previously run focusing on the subjects.

Along with Kay Peaden, from Oakwood, who she has previously run courses with, she will be launching a new five-week course this spring called Happiness: A kinder way to wellbeing.

The course at Corbridge Parish Hall will look at improving community and individual wellbeing and how we can build a kinder, more compassionate society.

It will explore themes based on the latest scientific evidence, including an introduction to mindfulness, personal reflection exercises and TED-style talks from experts in the field of positive psychology.

The course will run from 6.30pm on Thursdays from May 23.
