A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through alcohol or drugs following an incident in Haltwhistle.

A number of stationary vehicles were damaged after a car collided with them on Friday evening.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "At about 6.30pm on Friday, police received a report that a car had collided with a number of stationary vehicles on Main Street, in Haltwhistle.

"Officers have attended the scene and the 64-year-old driver of the vehicle involved was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through alcohol or drugs.

"The man has since been released under investigation."

Officers have asked any witnesses to call police on 101 quoting log 988 08/03/19.
