A WEATHER warning for strong winds is in place for Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

The Met Office has warned people in the North-East to expect strong northwesterly winds between 9pm on Tuesday and 3pm on Wednesday.

Gusts of up to 55mph are estimated, with winds gradually easing following 3pm on Wednesday.

A spokesman for the Met Office said there would be disruption to some bus and train services, as well as delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges. There could also be some short term loss of power.
