THE deadline to vote on proposals to regenerate Hexham's Market Place is this weekend.

Residents and business have until midnight on Sunday to say whether which option they would prefer for the area, whether a pedestrianised zone or enhanced streets option. A third option of 'neither' also exists.

So far, almost 5,000 people have looked at the plans on the website and over 700 people have voted. Hundreds also visited a drop-in session held at the Queen’s Hall last weekend.

Trevor Cessford, Northumberland county councillor for Hexham Central with Acomb, said: “There’s still time for people to get involved and have their say.

“We’ve always said we want the local community to play a full part in what the end result looks like. Once the deadline has passed, we will assess all the feedback and comments from the consultation before taking forward the chosen option.”

More information and an opportunity to have a say on the proposals are also available at hexhammarketplace.stickyworld.com. Paper copies are still available at the library in Queen's Hall.
