MORE than 2,000 homes and businesses in Prudhoe have been left without electricity after a major power cut.
Engineers at Northern Powergrid discovered two faults in an underground cable this morning, and a total of 2,320 properties were without power.
Prudhoe High School closed its doors at 11.30am, with pupils allowed to leave with parental permission.
Power is expected to be restored to all properties by 5pm on Tuesday.
