A HAIRDRESSING salon has been named the fund-raising salon of the year at a national awards ceremony.
Saks Hexham, on Priestpopple, Hexham picked up the award at an annual ceremony in London earlier this month.
The salon was praised for its work in raising £5,800 for the Eve Appeal charity, the most raised out of the 100 Saks salons in the country.
Local team members helped organise an afternoon tea party in September with other local businesses at Matfen Hall, which raised £4,352.80.
They also held a Christmas raffle for the chance to win a complimentary haircut as well as a makeover from Total Beauty, which raised more than £1,000.
Newly qualified stylist Jessica Smith was nominated for Stylist Image Award category, and salon director Andrea Currah was nominated for Colour Image Award.
Shannon Currah from Saks Hexham, said: “We are extremely proud to have raised such a substantial amount.”
