CROWDS of people put their eyes to the sky as RAF Tornados roared over RAF Spadeadam today.
Spectators and photographers gathered near Gilsland to catch a final glimpse of the jets at 2.45pm. However the flypast was in doubt earlier today as cloudy weather and a refuelling stop meant Spadeadam may have been missed out of the route.
After nearly 40 years of service, the Tornado fighter jet will be retired from service by the end of March. The aircraft will be flown over many of the country's RAF bases over the course of three days this week.
