NEWCASTLE Airport's Flybmi routes have been taken over by another airline.

Flybmi cancelled all of its flights and filed for administration this weekend.

It said it had been badly affected by rises in fuel and carbon costs and uncertainty over Brexit.

The East Midlands-based airline, which has 376 staff, flew to 25 European cities.

The move left some passengers stranded across Europe.

Following the announcement, another airline, Loganair, has now stepped in to operate two routes from Newcastle Airport which were operated by Flybmi, to Brussels in Belgium and Stavanger in Norway.
