A SON has taken over the running of the family business after the previous tenants left unexpectedly.

The Greenhead Hotel reopened on Friday, after closing on January 20 for renovation work to be carried out, after new manager Graeme Charlton temporarily took over the reins.

The menu has also been revamped and Graeme has hired a new chef in preparation for a new manager taking over in March.

He said: “It’s actually been my family’s pub for 25 years.

“I’ve lived in Australia for seven years, but I came home for Christmas and my dad said, ‘can you just jump in until we find a tenant’.

“If you come and look at this pub now, there’s nothing in this area that even comes close to it.

“In the summer the hotel runs itself, we have a lot of walkers and tourists coming in. If you can keep it ticking over in winter you can make a lot of money.”
