A DONATION to a food bank helped purchase items not often donated.
While every food item donated is appreciated by West Northumberland Foodbank, a gift of £771 from Hexham Rotary over the Christmas period was a huge boost.
Food bank co-ordinator Sam Gilchrist said: “A gift of money is great as it allows us to by items we need that are not often donated.”
The cheque from the Rotary club followed a Christmas collection by the organisation, and was presented to the food bank by Rotarians Jim Yeomans and Roy Dallison.
West Northumberland Foodbank is a charity based in Tynedale which collects and distributes food donations and other household essentials, alongside support with benefits and debt problems, to people across the district, with bases in Hexham, Prudhoe and Haltwhistle.
