A PLAQUE which marked the opening of Prudhoe’s much-loved swimming pool has been moved to a new location.

Bill Garrett, the chairman of Tynedale Council, and his wife Lorna Garrett, councillor with responsibility for leisure in Tynedale at the time, unveiled the plaque at Prudhoe Waterworld in 2000.

But with interior work planned to improve the reception area, the plaque needed to be moved to a different location

Last week Bill and Lorna met with centre manager Geoff Cant and county councillors Gordon Stewart and Ken Stow to talk about the centre’s future, before the plaque was relocated to a new spot in the entrance area.

Geoff Cant said: “It is a great opportunity to remember the hard work that past and present councillors have done to help develop and continually improve the facilities for the people of Prudhoe, attracting customers from across the region.”
