PRUDHOE’S high street is due to be closed to traffic for five nights next month while the road is resurfaced.
Northumberland County Council is planning to resurface the road on Front Street and replace the road markings.
The closure order is valid from March 11 to June 11, but the council is only expecting to close the road between March 11 and March 15, between 6pm and 2am each evening.
The work will be carried out in two phases in order to minimise disruption.
The road will firstly be closed from its junction with South Road to the junction with Station Road, before later being closed between the junction with Station Road to the junction with Redwell Road.
Coun. Gordon Stewart said: “This involves a very significant investment of taxpayers’ money, making Prudhoe an even better place to live work, visit, learn and invest in.”
Emergency vehicles will still be able to access the road while it is closed.
