A PETITION has been launched for a pedestrian crossing outside a thriving community centre.
Users of Hexham Community Centre have united to campaign for a crossing outside its premises on Hexham’s Gilesgate.
Various community organisations, covering all age ranges, use the centre on a regular basis and there are concerns for the safety of users crossing the busy road.
Chairman of trustees, Steve Ball, said: “We are wanting a crossing because the centre is used by a lot of vulnerable people, from two-year-olds at the playgroup to elderly groups from 60 all the way to 102!”
Paper copies of the petition have been left at the centre, and there is also an online petition on Facebook.
