PATIENTS at a Tynedale care home will benefit from a new bathroom suite, thanks to proceeds from an annual gift fair.
Charlotte Straker House, in Corbridge, has been able to renovate the upstairs bathroom in to a fully accessible integrated bathroom suite for the nursing, residential and respite patients after it received £3,000 from the Tynedale Gift Fair, held at Matfen Hall.
The new bathroom includes a jacuzzi bath system with an overhead hoist. Marilyn Hunter, the registered manager at Charlotte Straker, said: “We are so grateful to the gift fair committee for supporting us again this year and helping to fund our new bathroom. It is a huge bonus to to Charlotte Straker House.
“The new bath with an overhead tracking hoist are a perfect solution for our less mobile residents, and the new equipment has been very popular with them as a warm bath is very soothing for those with stiff joints and muscles – especially as they can now enjoy a nice, long soak.”
The latest donation from the gift fair has taken the total received by Charlotte Straker from the fair to £9,500 over three years.
Berenice Groves, chairwoman of trustees at the home, said: “We’d like to thank Caroline Mason and her team from the gift fair for their generosity and support .”
