A NEW cross-organisation initiative aimed at improving the town of Hexham has been hailed a success.

Hexham Hub is a new partnership involving Northumberland County Council, Hexham Town Council and Hexham Community Partnership which provides a platform for organisations to share visions for the regeneration of the town.

At the latest town council meeting, Cath Homer, county councillor for Hexham East, said the forum had proved a big success since its recent inception in October.

She said: “I see it as a group of people who actually quite like living, visiting and bringing their business to Hexham, and who generally think Hexham is a fine place to be.

“A personal note from me is that I can’t think of a better place to live and bring my family up. Hexham is a great town with a lot of opportunities.

“It has had its fair share of issues over the past 24 months, and this hub is brining together local people to talk about positive actions which will benefit the town.

“If you look at the groups involved, we share the same objectives about wanting to make Hexham a better place to live, work and visit.”

Hexham Hub is a new initiative instigated by Northumberland County Council as part of its countywide scheme to provide forums in town centres, with similar ventures started in Berwick, Ashington, Morpeth, Blyth and Alnwick.
