THE final consultation on the options for the future of Hexham Market Place is under way.

Residents can view the two remaining plans at hexhammarketplace.stickyworld.com and vote for their favourite option.

Anyone who lives, works, or visits Hexham is urged to have their say before the closing date on Sunday, March 3.

Coun. Trevor Cessford, Hexham town councillor and county councillor for Hexham Central ward, said: “All along, this process has been designed for residents, businesses and those who visit Hexham to take an active part in the redevelopment of Hexham’s Market Place.

“I urge everyone to take this opportunity to vote on which of the two final designs they would like to see Hexham Town Council and the county council progress to the next stage.

“The final design will not be selected by councillors, but by those who take the time to vote.”

The consultation is being run on behalf of Northumberland County Council and Hexham Town Council by sustainable transport charity Sustrans.

Following this final consultation period, feedback will be reviewed and the preferred option will be taken forward to a detailed design phase.

The news follows criticism that the consultation had not been detailed enough.
