A PILLAR of the community in Wylam has been recognised for the work he does in his village.
Hexham’s MP Guy Opperman presented Denis Peel with a Hexham Constituency Community Champion Award – sponsored by RedHot Property in Hexham.
The awards are handed out by Mr Opperman to recognise some of the extraordinary achievements of people in communities across the Hexham constituency.
Denis was nominated for the award by grateful residents of Wylam in recognition of his service to the village over many years, picking up litter, working tirelessly for Wylam Institute and helping residents in a multitude of ways.
Mr Opperman said: “I was delighted to present Denis with his award and I’m always pleased to be able to recognise the many people who work so hard – without seeking recognition – to make their communities better places to live.”
