A CRASH on the A69 has left two people in hospital.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the two car collision near Brampton on Friday.
The crash happened to the east of Brampton, near to the junction with the A6071. The road was closed for several hours, leading to traffic chaos.
Emergency services, including the Great North Air Ambulance, were quickly on scene.
Firefighters from Carlisle East and West Fire stations helped free one person from their vehicle and assisted paramedics.
A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: "The crash involved a yellow Peugeot 107 and a silver Subaru Impreza.
"The driver of the Peugeot, a woman, 70, from the north east, was injured and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle by land ambulance.
"A passenger in this car, a woman, 36, was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle with minor injuries."
Police are now urging anyone who saw the crash, or anything leading up to it, to contact officers on 101, referencing incident 146 of January 18.
