A CAMPAIGN shouting from the rooftops about the country’s best holiday destination has been launched.
Northumberland County Council was joined by business leaders and businesses from across the region to launch Discover our Land, which will build a community of local organisations to champion the county - the winner in the best UK holiday county/destination of the year category at the British Travel Awards.
The campaign, launched at Heddon-on-the-Wall’s Close House, will promote Northumberland as somewhere to visit, to raise a family, to build a career and to establish, invest and grow a business.
It will encourage start-up businesses, promote business growth and international trade in Northumberland, and will showcase some of the county’s leading businesses to inspire more entrepreneurs to create jobs and economic prosperity.
Hexham East councillor Cath Homer, the council’s cabinet member for culture, libraries, leisure and tourism, said: “Our approach has focused on promoting Northumberland in a new way, of telling a strong and bold story about what we have to offer and what makes us unique. We’ve been on a journey of discovery ourselves, and we’ve unearthed some amazing and inspirational stories - of success, of ideas, of adventure, and of community - but most of all stories of pride”
County council leader,Ponteland South councillor Peter Jackson, said: “It’s an exciting time for change in Northumberland, and our ambition for economic growth reflects this.”
