SOME areas of the Tyne Valley have been scattered with snow overnight and this morning as a weather warning remains in place.
The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for ice and wintery showers on Wednesday, lasting until 11am on Thursday morning.
Now a new yellow warning has been issued for between 10am on Thursday and 10am on Friday for snow and ice.
Forecasters say we should expect sleet and snow showers on Thursday followed by ice during Thursday evening and night.
Temperatures as low as -4 C are expected, with some areas having already been hit by light snowfall.
The Met Office warns that some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services. There could also be some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces, while there will probably be some ice on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
