The Met Office has issued a weather warning covering Tynedale as ice and wintry showers are forecast.
A yellow warning for ice is now in place from 10pm on Wednesday to 11am on Thursday.
The Met Office is warning people to be prepared for some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces, and possibly some ice on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
Temperatures are expected to drop on Wednesday night and with temperatures as low as -3 °C.
