A STATE of the art GP service is now available at Taylors Pharmacy in Ponteland.
Designed to support over-stretched NHS resources, MedicSpot is the only online GP service in the UK to perform a full clinical patient examination using diagnostic equipment.
Patients consult with UK GPs via video link and the doctors can examine the patient’s temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, breathing, ears, and throat despite being many miles away.
Founder Dr Zubair Ahmed said: “We believe that giving patients options of how and when they see the doctor will improve satisfaction and health.”
Trevor Duffield, pharmacist at Taylors Pharmacy in Ponteland, believes the new in-pharmacy service will help to ease pressure on local NHS resources, offering time-strapped locals and visitors alike, a fast, effective, and accurate alternative to the traditional GP surgery.
He said: “Increasingly, pharmacists and GPs are working together to provide a health service that’s second to none.
“It makes absolute sense to work as a team, ensuring that visitors to the MedicSpot Clinic will benefit from our joint medical expertise, benefiting from peace of mind or relief from discomfort, often much faster than has previously been possible”.
The MedicSpot clinic at Taylors Pharmacy is open Monday-Saturday. There is a charge for consultations, which last around 15 minutes, plus the cost of any medication.
