RAIL services returned to normal on Tuesday morning following a collision at a level crossing near Haydon Bridge.
The collision between a train and a taxi happened at around 7.15pm on Monday near to the Warden Crossing.
The British Transport Police said no casualties were reported, but trains were cancelled or delayed due to the lines being blocked.
Replacement buses were running between Hexham and Carlisle in both directions.
National Rail confirmed on Tuesday morning that trains would return to operating as normal between Hexham and Carlisle.
