ONE Tynedale couple received a Christmas present to trump all others on December 25 – the birth of their baby daughter.
Jayne and Patrick Houghton from Falstone welcomed baby Anna into the world at 1.50am on Christmas morning at Cramlington’s Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.
Anna had a due date of January 1, but 34-year-old mum Jayne was induced on December 22.
Weighing 6lb 7oz, dad Patrick (36) said Anna had “a good head of hair and a good set of lungs”.
“We kept saying ‘I bet she’s coming on Christmas Day’ and our friends and family kept saying the same, but it was still a bit of a surprise,” he said.
Mother and baby spent a night at Hexham General Hospital’s maternity unit before heading home, and the family chose to celebrate Christmas on Thursday and Friday along with their new arrival.
