ARTISTS in the Allen Valleys have donated a total of 22 original pieces for a good cause.

A recent festive fair, organised by Allendale Forge Studios, captured the imagination of artists, studio tenants and crafts people who use the forge as they donated the high number of artwork as raffle prizes to raise money for Tynedale Hospice at Home.

The pieces of artwork which featured among the star prizes included wood engravings, oil paintings, lino prints, drive guides to Northumberland and charcoal drawings.

A total of £770 was raised from the raffle, with Denise Williams, volunteer finance assistant at the forge, presenting it to Tynedale Hospice.

Megan West, the hospice’s community fund-raiser, said: “We are so grateful to the Allendale Forge Studios for organising such a fantastic fund-raiser.

“In 2017-2018, we provided care and support to 557 adults and children, and 53 families, through our hospice at home nursing care, family support and hospital transport services so every penny raised will make a real difference to the lives of local people and their families who need these vital services.”

Denise Williams, from the hospice, said: “As a result of this raffle, a generous cheque for £770 was presented to the hospice and it was a pleasure to be able to support such a worthwhile cause.”
