POLICE are appealing for information after sheep were stolen from a farm near Alston.

The sheep were taken from a farm in Howburn, on Rotherhope Fell, some time between August and November.

Twenty-four Swaledale sheep were stolen. They have identifying marks including a red vertical stripe on one side and GT burnt into the horn.

Cumbria Police are reminding farmers and the public to be vigilant in rural areas.

Anyone with information on the incident can contact police quoting log 15 of December 7.
