FOUR Tynedale causes will share £25,000 donated from kind-hearted workers at a Hexham factory.

Employees at Egger (UK), based on Anick Road, raised the money through a number of events throughout the year, and recently handed over cheques to Corbridge Youth Initiative, Useful Vision, Chin Up Charity and The Hextol Foundation.

Among the fund-raising activities were visits to Kielder Observatory and an open day at its factory, as well as the Egger Runs scheme which sees the company donate five euros for every kilometre employees complete whether in the Great North Run or other organised runs.

Bob Livesey, commercial director of the company’s Western European division and chairman of the Egger Charity Commission, presented the cheques, and said: “All of these charities do an incredible amount of positive across the region. I am delighted that our employees have been able to support so many positive causes with their fund-raising efforts.”

In 2017, a donation from Egger to Northumbria Blood Bikes meant the charity was able to purchase a new Yamaha motorbike and two year’s worth of fuel, on the recommendation of a volunteer who works for the company.
