HEXHAM’S MP, Guy Opperman, visited the town’s biggest employer last week to hear about recent investments.

John Paterson, director of Egger Forestry welcomed Mr Opperman to the Egger UK factory which employs over 640 people.

“Our Hexham site is one of the most technologically advanced plants in Europe and the two UK production sites manufacture enough wood-based products each year to fill approximately 27,500 lorry trailers,” said Mr Paterson.

“Approximately £250m has been invested in the Hexham site over the last decade.

“Our business can only continue to build on its success if the UK has strong and growing wood supplies to meet UK demand for wood-based products.

“During his visit Guy met with members of our team and had a short factory tour.”
