WHILE many people were still in bed, pipers across Britain awoke early to start the Armistice Day tributes.
Highland piper Christopher Bacon performed the moving song 'Battle's O'er' at Allendale's St Cuthbert's Church at 6am as part of a national movement.
Across the nation, pipers were at 2,000 locations to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, with it widely believed that the Armistice was signed at 6am in 1918.
