KATE Anderson, who works at Prudhoe Waterworld, has been awarded a service honour from the Royal Life Saving Society UK, to celebrate 20 years of lifesaving service.

Kate is a familiar face to many, having worked at the centre for more than 23 years.

She has been training and assessing lifeguards at the centre since 1999, covering essential first aid skills such as CPR and water rescues.

Qualified lifeguards must still undergo regular training and Kate takes the team at Prudhoe through regular refresher training for two hours each month, often before the pool opens to the public.

“I was thrilled to receive this award,” she said. “We have a great team of lifeguards at Prudhoe Waterworld and the fact they are really at the top of their game makes my job so much more rewarding.”
