A WEEKEND of music is in store at The Vault in Hexham.

On Friday, Stocksfield’s Katie Gilbert, a classically trained soprano, and Sue Whittaker on the classical guitar, will present a programme of classical and folk songs.

There will be Spanish guitar solos, English Elizabethan Song, North-East Folk Songs, as well as songs with folk influence by Schubert, Giuliani, De Falla and Canteloube from different corners of Europe.

Having gained a first class honours degree in music from Oxford University and a distinction in her vocal performance Masters degree from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, this will be Katie’s first time performing back in Tynedale. Starting at 7.30pm, the audience will be sat at tables with drinks, giving an informal, intimate atmosphere.

Meanwhile on Saturday, Irish singer and songwriter Maria Doyle Kennedy will perform from 7pm.
