A CAMPAIGN from America which is aimed at encouraging blood donations has been introduced in the county thanks to an Active Northumberland employee.
Jane Hardy, who recently swam with work colleagues from the Farne Islands to Bamburgh Castle to raise over £500 for a blood cancer charity, encouraged the introduction of free swimming sessions for blood donors this weekend.
Anyone with a blood donor card, or who has written proof that they are a registered blood donor, will receive a free swim at any of the seven Active Northumberland swimming pools.
The offer is valid on Saturday between 11.15am and 1.30pm at Ponteland Leisure Centre and from 1pm until 3pm at Prudhoe Waterworld, and from 3pm until 5pm on Sunday at Hexham’s Wentworth Leisure Centre.
