THE colourful addition of a new accessories shop may have caught the eye of Hexham’s shoppers.

Standing in a prominent spot on the corner of Market Place, occupied by Carphone Warehouse before it closed in August, Ginos Accessories opened its doors last week.

Now displays of varying styles and brands of bags, suitcases, purses and other accessories have filled the empty space.

This is the second shop for Ibo Metin and his business partner Gino Yildiz, who have been running a Ginos shop on Sunderland’s Fawcett Street for around a year.

“We were looking to open another shop before Christmas and my business partner came here to look at the shop and speak to the owner,” said Ibo.

“We knew it was a brilliant location, and we love Hexham – especially the people here – everyone is so nice and friendly and it is a beautiful place.”

The pair are hoping to make the Hexham shop work long-term, but are initially giving the business until Christmas to see if it takes off and whether their plans fit in with those of their landlord.

Ibo said he thought that shoppers would welcome their low prices, with customers already giving a positive feedback on the products and prices.

He added: “If we decide to keep the shop, we would want to knock the wall through to make it bigger and have a shoe section, and, in the future, maybe things like leather jackets.

“In Sunderland the shop has those things and it works really well.”
