THE photography skills of a Corbridge man have again made the front cover of a charity calendar.

A pair of kingfishers captured at Gosforth nature reserve by amateur photographer Martin Farrer, a retired engineer, appear as the cover shot for the Tyne Rivers Trust charity calendar for 2019.

It is the second time in three years one of his pictures have occupied the prime slot.

He said: “The kingfishers aren’t there all the time so you’ve got to sit in the hide and wait, but after only an hour I got lucky and there were two!”

The stand-out image is one of 12 shots taken by local people with images from Kay Nixon, of Barrasford, Barbara Austin, of Hexham, Eileen Charlton, of Corbridge, and Michael Bradley, also featuring.

Hexham chipboard factory Egger covered the production costs of the calendar which is available via www.tyneriverstrust.org/calendar or Hexham Abbey gift shop, Forum Books in Corbridge and the Sill gift shop.
