BOSSES at Haltwhistle Community Campus have said that the consultation on plans to change the age range at the site will go ahead despite recent developments at Bellingham Middle School.
WISE Academies announced that it would be looking into changing the schools to a two-tier system last month. The academy chain said that they were bringing forward the proposals because of the wider changes taking place in the area, with first schools being converted to primaries.
However, the decision by the school’s adjudicator to save Bellingham Middle School has led to confusion.
A spokesman for WISE said: “The outcome of the schools adjudicator’s consideration around Bellingham Middle School has not altered the local authority’s overall area plan and first schools in the area will proceed to change their age ranges in line with this to become primary schools.
“The WISE Academies consultation exercise is unaffected by this development and the consultation will continue to run until December 3. WISE Academies views this as a tremendous opportunity to bring stability and improved facilities.”
