POIGNANT red poppies are adorning the clothing of people in Prudhoe with the launch of annual poppy appeal.
Saturday saw the launch of the appeal with Irene Davis of the Prudhoe and District branch of the Royal British Legion joined by Mayor of Prudhoe Tracy Gilmore to begin selling poppies.
Irene said: “We raised £24,000 last year – the year ran up until September 30 and the new year began on October 1. It’s apparent that the people of Prudhoe are very generous.”
As in previous years, Prudhoe will fall silent for the Remembrance Sunday Parade. On Sunday, November 11 the parade will assemble at 10.30am in the Legion car park, before marching through Front Street to the Lynchgate war memorial at St Mary Magdalene Chruch for a remembrance service at 11am.
