PEOPLE could be forgiven for feeling a little frightened walking through Hexham on Saturday.
But that was only because the costumes were so good at the town’s annual Spook Night.
Hundreds of people joined in with the fun to enter the various fancy dress competitions; there was even a competition for pets!
The crowds were spread throughout the town as people enjoyed the activities held at the various locations.
The fun got under way as early as 11am with the start of a Halloween trail which invited children to tour the historic Old Gaol.
Over in Hexham Abbey, Canon Dagmar Winter challenged young visitors to find skeletons hidden around the building, as well as providing a number of fun activities.
The Forum Cinema aptly showed hit animated movie Hotel Transylvania 3, and it was also the location for ghost stories, with Cogito Books, in Fore Street, reading a number of stories tailored more for a younger audience.
Among the numerous fairground rides and stalls, a witches’ den manned by Oliver and Rosie Lovett was a hit with people wishing to dip their hands among rubber body parts to pull out a treat.
As the day progressed, the fancy dress competitions, split into pets, under sixes, ages six to nine, ages 10 to 16 and adults, were held at the bandstand. They gave way to two performances from local group Studio K Dance and pumpkin carving contests.
