DEDICATED knitters hopped on board a poppy train this week to kick start an initiative which will see railway stations along the Tyne Valley line decorated for Remembrance Day.
Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership has teamed up with Prudhoe business Ready Steady Knit in their aim to place knitted and crocheted poppies at each of the 14 stations between Newcastle and Carlisle.
Yesterday, a poppy train, sponsored by Northern, stopped at the stations while the knitters worked away on board before continuing their knitting at Haltwhistle’s old booking hall.
The group is hoping others will get involved with knitting or donating wool.
