Tynedale Rugby Club's senior teams will resume their season after last weekend's postponement following a confirmed case of MRSA.

The club confirmed one of its first team players contracted the infection and all senior games last weekend did not go ahead, as a precaution.

However, the club today revealed it has been given the go-ahead to fulfil this weekend's fixtures, including the 1st XV home game with Fylde.

In a statement, Tynedale chief executive Neil Foster, said: “This has been a challenging week for the club and for the senior players, especially those receiving treatment for cuts and abrasions in light of the confirmed case of MRSA last week.

"The medical team at the club has handled the situation with exceptional professionalism and we are delighted that no further cases of MRSA infection haves been identified."
