HAYDON Bridge High School has said it is dealing with a violent incident at the school that was captured on video.

The footage was shared on social media last week, and showed a fight between two pupils.

Headteacher Darren Glover has stressed that the incident was an unusual one.

Mr Glover said: “This was an isolated incident.

“We’re investigating and dealing with it internally through the school system.

“We take matters like this very seriously, and we would never tolerate violence like this.”

In the school’s most recent Ofsted report, which took place in March this year, inspectors found that bullying at the school did occasionally take place.

However, the report reads: “The vast majority of pupils who responded to Ofsted’s inspection questionnaire say that teachers deal with it effectively.”

The school’s anti-bullying policy also states: “We believe that bullying is always unacceptable and it will not be tolerated.”
